This very popular training seminar is designed to substantially increase the knowledge base of those operators who have already attended our Level 1 - Basic Systems and Water Chemistry training seminar. A Certificate of Attendance & Training for this seminar is issued. By prior arrangement a 'multichoice' written exam with a Pass/Fail Certificate can be taken.
The water cycle and the origins of various types of pool and spa water pollution, including physical, chemical and microbiological, are discussed as a foundation to understanding the various corrective actions required.
pH is explained, discussed and demonstrated in greater detail than in Level 1, as is Total Alkalinity, together with the different chemicals available for correcting these levels. Calcium Hardness is then explored, including testing methods and correction.
Using the information from pH, Total Alkalinity and Calcium Hardness, various methods of Water Balance calculations are then explained and demonstrated. This is followed by the delegates completing worked examples in order to confirm and reinforce their knowledge of Water Balance.
The disinfection cycle and chlorination are discussed in depth to enable the operator to understand the effects and results of disinfection, The various types of chlorine donors are detailed to enable operators to choose a donor best suited to their particular facility.
The chemical residuals are also discussed, to explain the problems associated with the incorrect levels of cyanurates, Sulphates and Chlorides. The origins of these residuals are explored so that operators can understand the advantages and penalties of using particular chemicals.
Alternative disinfection is also examined, leading to an understanding by the operator of Bromine, Ozone,Ultra Violet, and Copper/Silver Ioniic purification.
To complete the information, Total Dissolved Solids is addressed, and Health & Safety regarding chemical handling is also discussed.
At each stage, the water testing methods for the particular topics are discussed to confirm a full understanding and ability to assess water quality.
Finally, the delegates are presented with a variety of examples of deteriorating or incorrect pool chemical levels, and are invited to discuss the causes, and the corrective action required to restore water quality.
At the end of this training seminar, the delegates should be able to quickly recognise deteriorating water quality, carry out the appropriate tests, and take the most suitable corrective action.
After satisfactorily completeing both the Level 1 and the Level 2 training seminars, each delegate should be capable of being fully responsible for the operation of the swimming pool and/or spa at their facility.
This training seminar takes a full day. Course handbooks are provided but notes should also be taken.
